Powder room with terrazzo floor and wall tiles below white vertical stack-bond tiles

Laid straight. Finished properly.

Elect Tiling & Waterproofing is a floor and wall tiler based in Cranbourne East, tiling bathrooms, laundries, kitchens, staircases and outdoor areas for homes and businesses across South East Melbourne.

Every job gets the same standard: tiles laid with clean, even spacing and a precise finish, and the area left clean when the job is done.

Large-format tiles, herringbone layouts, mosaics, splashbacks and feature walls are set out with care, so the finished lines run straight from one wall to the next.

Four ways to lay a tile

The layout changes how a room reads. These are the ones that show up most in Elect’s work.

01

Stack bond

Tiles set in straight, unbroken lines. Run vertically, it gives walls a clean, modern rhythm.

02

Herringbone

Rectangles laid at right angles in a zigzag, in mosaic for a shower or long planks across a floor.

03

Large format

Big tiles such as 1200×600 mean fewer grout lines, and need careful setting out.

04

Mosaic

Small tiles on a sheet, suited to shower floors, niches and feature walls.

How a room gets tiled

Five steps, in order, on every floor and wall we tile.

01

Set out

Lines are planned before anything is stuck down, so cuts land at the edges and the pattern runs straight from wall to wall.

02

Prepare

Floors are checked and shower bases screeded to fall towards the waste.

03

Protect

Wet areas are waterproofed properly before any tile goes down.

04

Lay

Tiles go down straight, with clean, even spacing and level edges.

05

Finish

Grouted, sealed, and the area left clean.

Which layout suits which room?

A quick guide to the four layouts above. Every room is different, so we’ll talk it through when we quote.

Floor and wall tiling: your questions

Straight answers to the questions we’re asked most. Can’t see yours? Call 0480 539 408.

What floor and wall tiling does Elect do?

Floor tiling, wall tiling, feature walls, niches, splashbacks, staircases, outdoor areas and stone work, plus the work around the tiles: screeding, floor levelling, tile demolition, tile replacement, and grouting and grout sealing. We are a family business with over 15 years in business, working across South East Melbourne.

Do you lay large-format tiles like 1200×600?

Yes. Large-format tiles such as 1200×600 are a regular job, including the bathroom one client described in their Google review. Big tiles need a flat base and careful setting out to sit level and lined up, so the base is checked before anything is laid.

Can you lay herringbone?

Yes. Herringbone is laid in mosaic for showers and in long planks across floors and hallways. It takes more cuts than a straight lay, so it takes longer, but it adds movement that a straight lay can’t.

Do you supply the tiles, or do I?

Either works. On one job reviewed on Google, Elect chose the design and supplied all the materials and tiles. If you’ve already picked your tiles, we’ll lay those. Tell us which suits you when you ask for a quote.

Can you remove old tiles and level the floor first?

Yes. Tile demolition, screeding and floor levelling are part of the job, so old tiles come up, the base is made flat and sound, and the new tiles go down on a surface that is ready for them. One team doing all of it means nothing falls between trades.

Can you replace a few broken or cracked tiles?

Yes. Tile replacement is part of what we do, indoors and out. Replacement tiles need to sit flush and match what’s already there, so the area reads as one surface again. Keeping a few spare tiles from the original job makes this easier.

Which areas do you cover?

We’re based in Cranbourne East and tile across South East Melbourne, including Cranbourne, Clyde North, Berwick, Narre Warren and Pakenham. If your suburb isn’t listed, call 0480 539 408 and ask.
